Boost Your Skills to Help the NEETs

KA153: Mobility of Youth Workers

Project Reference: 2022-1-EL02-KA153-YOU-000070102

Summary

“BYSN - Boost Your Skills to help the NEETs” was designed to tackle the issue of young unemployment in the local areas of the partner organizations. The project gave participating youth workers the proper skills and competences to create specific activities for youngsters who are without a job, in order to help them enter in the job market and be more successful in finding a new job or creating something of their own.

The objectives of the project were:

- to equip participating youth workers with skills and abilities to create activities that can support NEETs in finding a job
- to provide participants with specific activities that they can use to empower NEETs of their local areas
- to promote entrepreneurial mindset in the participating youth workers and, indirectly, in the young NEETs they are working with
- to increase the inclusion of local NEETs of the communities of the partner organizations

Our main aim was that after the project, the youth workers would be able to set up activities in their own countries that will involve young unemployed people and provide them with the possibility to acquire knowledge and develop skills that will reinforce their position in the labour market.

Activities

To achieve the objectives of this project we implemented the “BYSN - Boost Your Skills to help the NEETs” training course for youth workers which involved a total of 39 participants and 2 expert trainers coming from 13 different countries: Greece, Albania, Spain, Bulgaria, France, The Republic of North Macedonia, Turkey, Italy, Montenegro, Romania, Ukraine, Portugal, and Cyprus.

The participants were youth workers, most of them young people themselves, who are collaborating with the partner organizations either as staff, or as volunteers. The majority of them already had experience in implementing activities for young NEETs and all of them were interested in developing knowledge, skills and attitudes that would support them in promoting new, innovative activities for this target group and, thus, help their target group to develop competences that will facilitate their access to the labour market. To facilitate the exchange of good practices and ideas among participants, all participants had a good level of English and an open mindset.

The activities of the project were based on the principles of non-formal learning, and they can be resumed in: team building games, trust sections, energizers and name games, workshops of entrepreneurship, debates, group discussions, learning by doing sessions and role play games. All the activities were related with the main topic of the project, and they were built to facilitate the learning of every person in the group.

Results and Impact

The results of the project were:
- development of skills and competencies of the Youth Workers in the field of entrepreneurial methods
- increased sense of initiative of the youth workers
- improvement of the personal motivation and attitude of the participating youth workers
- development of an empowered mindset able to take choices and risks in the participating youth workers
- increase of the capacity of the youth workers to create activities to share fundamental entrepreneurship knowledge to the young NEETs of their local communities
- creation of a manual with useful tools to teach entrepreneurship and initiative taking

- development of the quality of the services that the partner organizations offer to young people

- creation of a network of organizations from countries within and outside of Europe that work towards the development of new projects on the subject

The project had a positive impact on:

- participants of the project, who had the opportunity to increase their skills and knowledge in the entrepreneurship sector, and to share the acquired knowledge in their local community

- partner organizations and Culti Multi, who benefit from a better trained staff and who have the opportunity to create a strong network of associations that will cooperate on other projects in the future.

- local communities and especially young NEETs in the countries partner organizations. Those youngsters are now able to benefit from the knowledge, skills and attitudes that the youth workers developed during the project and to participate in the renewed activities that the youth workers now implement in their areas. By participating in these activities, the young people are gaining valuable insights and skills that will allow them to improve their position in the labour market, as well as tools that will help them create their own initiatives, if they so wish.
